Bike to work plus gym workout combo. Results. Acceptable.

What worked:

Having everything ready to go the night before. Check your tire pressure, pack everything but your dress shirt and pants.
Wrinkle free packing.

What did not work:

Layering to stay warm. You got to pack out what you wear in. Suck it up. The cold will ensure your awake by the time you start throwing weights around.
After workout smoothie. Duh. Try riding one handed with a brainfreeze.

M’s primer

MLB Opening day is Monday. So, for those of you not obsessed enough with Baseball to follow a team from our little corner of the Northwest, here is a quick intro.

Last season the M’s won 88 games. Good, but not great. And not enough to make the playoffs. What kept them out? The Mariners had trouble scoring runs sure, but pitching woes probably hurt their chances more. The combined effect was to be close, but perpetually behind the Angels in their division.

The good news for M’s fans, over the off-season the team beefed up pitching. Some even say, going into the 2008 season, the Mariners starting five are the best in baseball. The guys to watch, Eric Bedard and Felix Hernandez.

Note: Hitting is still a question mark. Big Sexy (Richie Sexson) needs to up his average this season to give the M’s solid hitting from the middle of the lineup.

Take it to the dealership. I picked up my ‘83 Landcruiser from Lake City Toyota yesterday and the beast is running like new. Unbelievable! Granted you pay a premium, but for me it was worth it.

The Turk

The first two peices of the “Turk” arrived today. Nope, not building a competition chess computer. Just your run-of-the-mill fragolicous gaming rig. It is, however, going to bare the monigram “Turk.” Odds of my Turk becoming self-aware and eventually crippling then taking over the worlds defense nets? Eh … 45%, tops.

Everyone’s favorite lightning fast application launcher, recently released version 2.0. Among it’s mulititude of uses, is the ability to perform web searches. This feature alone has me hooked. Now I can’t be bothered with actually opening a web browser, choosing a search, etc etc. No no, not when all the web’s search goodness is a mere ALT+SPACE away.

I picked up this Crossman air gun over the weekend. I was just looking for something to keep the local gang of pigeons off my roof. It works well as a pigeon deterrent … it is also a lot of fun! I ended up spending a good part of Sunday afternoon target practicing with soda cans.
